BLS and Automated External Defibrillator

BLS and AED qualification provides students with the necessary skills and knowledge about basic life support and safe use of the Automated External Defibrillator in emergency situations.

Early CPR and Early defibrillation, use of the AED, can improve survival rates considerably and therefore we believe that our BLS and AED course is beneficial to everyone and not only to those who have a specific interest or responsibility at work to provide BLS in emergency situations which may involve the AED.

"Defibrillation within 3-5 minutes of collapse can produce survival rates as 50-70%. This can be achieved through public access defibrillation, when a bystander uses a nearby AED to deliver the first shock. Each minute of delay to defibrillation reduces the probability of survival to hospital discharge by 10%. Our BLS and AED course objective is to benefit students by enabling them to attain the knowledge and practical competencies needed to deal with a range of first aid situations and safely use an Automated External Defibrillator.

During this 1/2 day course You will develop the knowledge and practical competencies needed to initiate and deliver cardio pulmonary resuscitation and also use the AED.

Successful completion of the course will enable you to manage an unresponsive casualty and combine CPR with the use of AED.

We deliver our BLS and AED course using presentation, individual work books, scenarios, multiple choice question papers and high fidelity manikins to facilitate learning, theory and practical assessment. We provide an interactive learning experience, relaxed and enjoyable environment to achieve, maintain and update professional competencies.

The Qualification and Learning outcomes are based on the recommendations of Resuscitation Council UK, Skills for Health Assessment Principles for First Aid Qualifications and assists with meeting Care Certificate standard 12.
